History of Department of Statistics

In 1996, the Co-operative Training School, Sagaing was upgraded and opened to the Co-operative College, Sagaing and the Statistics subjects were taught. In 2012, the Co-operative College, Sagaing was upgraded to Co-operative University, Sagaing. At that time, the Statistics Department was founded. Department of Statistics produces not only the statisticians but also demographers who take the responsibility to serve the community as well as the government.

Vision

  • To promote the ways of thinking and use of linking high quality statistics in different fields for evidence based on excellent decision making in socio economic development.

Mission

  • To create the flourishing and well-rounded educational environment to keep up with the time, studying this applying statistics for gaining information technology.
  • To promote the capability of building the Myanmar mainstream society not only academic section but also other sectors accordance with education policy of the country and institution.

Objectives

  • To promote a culture of statistical literacy, awareness and general use of statistics in every-day life
  • To uplift the contribution of statistics and its applications to evidence-based decision making in the society and
  • To promote the continuous training and development program for being professional statisticians
